Individualized Living Services
Staff at Enable recently noticed a new trend in requests for at-home residential services – the participants were getting younger. As teenagers with disabilities transitioned into adulthood, they often didn’t know where to turn for support. Individualized living services can help these individuals learn the skills they would need to live on their own.
Services
Individualized Living Services (ILS) serve individuals with developmental disabilities, providing instruction in daily skills necessary for independence. Each ILS participant has an individualized plan that outlines the skills they would like to develop further. These skills may include:
- Community Inclusion
- Money Management
- Situational Safety
- Housekeeping
- Use of Public Transportation
- Conflict resolution and communication
- Boundaries and relationships
- Self Advocacy
- Time Management
- Personal Hygiene
- Diet and Exercise
- Civic responsibilities and volunteerism
Community Support Specialists work with participants in their home and in the community to build a network of support.
