Certified Residential Settings
Since 1982, Enable’s Certified Residential Services have assisted adults with disabilities meet their housing and personal care needs. For individuals over the age of 18 who are not able to live on their own, Enable provides Individualized Residential Alternatives (IRA) certified by New York State.
Services
Enable offers small group living environments with enhanced staff support. Two to four adults with disabilities live together in each IRA. Twenty-four hour staffing is provided.
All of Enable’s IRAs are located in neighborhoods with easy access to public transportation and community venues. Participants are strongly encouraged to become involved in their community and participate in social activities.
Each participant receives individualized services based on their particular needs and wants. Our staff is specially trained to help individuals develop and maintain skills in a multitude of areas. Participants are also assisted in setting and reaching goals that promote increased independence.
Eligibility/Funding
Referrals for certified residential services may come from many sources, including families, service coordinators, or participants themselves.
Programs are funded by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. Enrollment in the Medicaid Home and Community Based Services Waiver is required.
