 Self-Directed Personal Services
Enable offers home care through its Self-Directed Personal Services (SDPS) program. It is a service in Onondaga County, which allows people with disabilities to have control over their personal services. SDPS participants screen, interview, hire, train, supervise and dismiss their personal assistants.
Because individuals have more control with this service, they have more responsibilities. The person must be able to direct their assistance service. If they cannot, they must have another person who is willing to direct the service.
Services
Enable is authorized to offer SDPS in Onondaga County. We act as the liaison between the participant and Medicaid. This means Enable is responsible for:
- Acting as an employer for payroll, insurance and benefits for personal assistants.
- Ensuring equal opportunity for all prospective employees.
- Training participants in how to use the service.
- Billing Medicaid for services provided.
Referrals/Eligibility
Enable works cooperatively with the Onondaga County Long-Term Resource Center. They complete an assessment and verify eligibility. In order to qualify for service, individuals must:
- Live in Onondaga County
- Be eligible for Medicaid
- Have a disability that qualifies them for personal services; and
- Be able to assume responsibility for the supervision of your home care.
