We all experience life through our senses. There are seven sensory systems:
- Touch (tactile)
- Proprioception (muscle)
- Vestibular (balance)
Recognizing, understanding, and responding to all the information that these sensory systems provide is called Sensory Integration. Children with sensory integration problems can be either "over responsive" or "under responsive" in any one of the sensory systems or have a combination of both.
Enable provides multi-sensory experiences for children with a variety of sensory deficits. Children who have difficulty receiving, processing or responding to sensory information may demonstrate decreased attention span, limited social interaction, tactile defensiveness and/or over/under reaction to sensory inputs.
Enable clinicians are trained in both observation-based and standardized evaluations and are certified in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests. A detailed report is written which discusses the results and recommendations.
We believe in a hands-on approach to therapy. Therapy practitioners work one-to-one with each participant. During an initial evaluation, the therapist, child, and family identify goals that can be addressed through sensory integration therapy. The individualized treatment plan is modified as skills progress.
To promote skills within a child’s daily environments, clinicians may make recommendations regarding equipment for home and school. We offer training for staff and family on sensory integration principles and on the specific needs of the participant.
Located in our LEED®-certified green building, Enable’s state-of-the-art sensory integration room is an ideal environment for therapy services. A variety of equipment and resources are available to address the needs of each participant. The adjacent family waiting area features comfortable furniture, play activities, and an outdoor patio.

Referrals for services are accepted from families, service coordinators, physicians, Early Intervention, schools, therapists, and others. Physician prescription is required prior to receiving services.
There is a fee for services. Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, private pay, Early Intervention, school district and alternate funding sources are accepted. Assistance is available to help individuals obtain funding.
