Assistive Technology Lending Library
Adaptive equipment can truly make a difference in the lives of individuals with disabilities. Whether it is an adapted toy, a specialized piece of mobility equipment, or an augmentative communication device, assistive technology helps children with disabilities to participate more fully at home, school and play.
Services
Project Adapt is Enable’s assistive technology lending library. The library’s large inventory can help children with all types of disabilities. With adapted toys and games, the library helps children learn through play and work on necessary skills. Standers and seating equipment allow students to be included in activities with their classmates.
The use of augmentative communication devices gives children with speech difficulties the confidence to carry on conversations with their family and friends.
Project Adapt also gratefully accepts donations of toys and adapted equipment that are in good condition and can be “recirculated” in the community through the lending library.
Project Adapt is able to offer its services free of charge thanks to assistance and support from the New York State Commission on Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, the Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities (TRAID) Project, the NYS Department of Health Early Intervention Program, the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

Eligibility/Funding
The Central New York TRAID Center serves a six county region: Onondaga, Madison, Cayuga, Tompkins, Cortland, and Oswego counties. A rural outreach project has been developed to make monthly visits to areas outside of Onondaga County.
Services are available to individuals with disabilities of all ages, their family members, service providers, educators, employers, and others who are interested in disability issues and/or assistive technology.
There is no fee for Project Adapt services.
