 Housing and Community Services
Enable's Housing and Community Services helps adults with disabilities with their housing needs. Individuals with disabilities have the right to live wherever they choose. Many choices are available.
Services
Group Living Opportunities:
Enable offers group living services. Four to six people with disabilities live together. Twenty-four hour supervision provided.
The homes are in neighborhoods close to activities. They are close to public transportation. Emphasis is placed on inclusion in social activities.
People are encouraged and assisted in setting goals.
Individualized Living Opportunities:
Enable also offers a personalized approach to housing. We can help people with disabilities live where and how they want to. We help find their idea of home. Home may mean living with a family or roommate of their choice.
An important part of this service is linking people with disabilities and people who do not have disabilities. We then help build a network of support for the person. Support is available for the individual's recreational interests, too.
Referrals
People can refer themselves to Enable. We also accept referrals from other sources.
Funding
Programs are paid for by the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
