Early Intervention Services

Enable is an Approved Provider of Early Intervention Services for children, birth to age three, and their families. We offer professional and supportive services in keeping with our principles of choice, inclusion, individualization and empowerment.


Programs
Enable believes that children learn best from being with other children their own age.

Home and Community-Based Services
Enable has a team of experienced teachers and therapists who provide home-based early intervention services. Services can be delivered at home, in a community-based day care or nursery school.

Inclusive Toddler Services
Special education and related services are offered in toddler classes at three conveniently located nursery schools.

Services for Families
Social workers provide service coordination, parenting education and support groups for families.

Evaluations
Core Evaluations
A special education teacher or a licensed psychologist will assess a child along with an occupational, speech or physical therapist. Evaluations usually take place at the offices at 1603 Court Street, Syracuse.

Physician Supplemental Evaluation Enable has a pediatric neurologist and a developmental pediatrician who diagnose disabilities in young children.

Supplemental Evaluation
Enable provides Non-Physician Supplemental Evaluations in the following areas:

  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Speech Therapy
  • Assistive Technology
  • Nutrition
  • Psychology

Services
Early Intervention services are available at no cost to families.

Speech Services
Enable, the regional leader in augmentative communication and other supports for children with significant needs, offers:

  • Speech Therapy
  • Communication Devices

Adaptive Equipment
Enable's Family Support Program provides adaptive equipment and home modifications as needed.

Aquatics
Physical or occupational therapy may be provided in an aquatic environment to enhance the therapy's effectiveness for babies and toddlers with significant pain, spasticity, muscle tone or sensory integration issues.

Project Adapt
Project Adapt, the Central New York Regional TRAID Center (Technology-Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities), provides a library of adapted toys and equipment available by loan for children.
