Project Adapt, our assistive technology lending library, loans out adaptive toys and other equipment to children with disabilities and their families. Adapted toys are very expensive; often fives time as much as a typical toy. Families can borrow adapted toys for free, returning them to the lending library when they are no longer appropriate for their child’s interests or abilities. That same adapted toy is loaned out to a different child and many other children over the lifetime of the toy. The initial $100 invested in an adapted jack-in-the-box is multiplied every time a different child borrows that toy.
