Enable is pleased to announce that Dr. David Smith, president of SUNY Upstate Medical University, and his wife, Dr. Donna Bacchi, will be serving as honorary chairs for our 2010 Shining Lights Annual Awards Celebration.  Shining Lights will be held on Wednesday, April 28 at Traditions at the Links.  Nominations are now being accepted for the following awards:

• Contribution to Inclusion Award - Recognizes businesses or other organizations which were not designed to involve people with disabilities, but which have now demonstrated a commitment to inclusion.

• William Fitzpatrick Community Service Award - Recognizes a person, agency or group who/which has positively touched the lives of people involved with Enable. Generally involved with advocacy for people with disabilities, Fitzpatrick Community Service Award recipients are people who embrace the wonder of the human spirit and act on their beliefs.

• Jerri Wilson Award - Recognizes a volunteer for leadership, dedication, friendship and creativity.
  
  
• Lionel Grossman Award - Recognizes family members of Enable participants who inspire others to give freely of their time and talents, thus supporting the development of new programs and services for children and adults with disabilities.

• Direct Service Award - Recognizes staff people who work directly with program participants in their homes, in their classrooms, and in the community.

• Thomas Rigney Participant Recognition Award - Recognizes a person with disabilities who has achieved a substantial level of individual independence, financial stability, interpersonal relationships and other types of success in life.

• Special Recognition Award - Given to commemorate non-recurring projects, which have significantly enhanced the effectiveness of Enable in fulfilling our mission.
