2004 Annual Report
Overall, agency operations and management were stable in 2004.
The Board of Directors initiated a Service Enhancement Planning Process that involved over one hundred community members and agency staff in focus groups and other activities leading to a revised agency mission statement and a brief strategic plan.
The new mission statement is:
Enable offers an array of services to individuals with developmental or physical disabilities that enhance their quality of life.
Enable's principles are choice, inclusion, empowerment and family involvement.
Enable provided services for 1816 different people in 2004, 86% of whom reside in Onondaga County. The next highest are Oswego (4%) and Madison (3%) Counties. The impact of Enable services reached hundreds of additional people who are family members, teachers, co-workers or caregivers of the identified clients. Participants are 55% male and 62% developmentally disabled; 84% Caucasian, 9% African American, 3% Native American, 2% Asian, 1% Hispanic, and 1% Other.
Enable employed 824 different people in 2004; 201 worked full time and 623 worked part-time. 612 people were employed on December 31st. The total hours worked calculates to 387 full time equivalents. Agency revenue was $13,436,727.
A new service this year is the Children's Assistive Technology Services (CATS) funded by the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council. Medicaid Service Coordination has expanded to serve children.

Enable is one of the agencies participating with WCNY on the “My So-Called Disability” series. As such, we contributed to the series and were also invited to speak on several different disability-related topics for the "Hour CNY" show. The series has provided an important opportunity to educate the general public regarding disabilities.
