Accessibility & Enable's Website
Enable's website is designed to be accessible for people with disabilities, especially for people who use screen readers to "speak" the text on a webpage.
The HTML code for Enable's site meets a variety of specifications that support accessibility; for instance, all images on the site have an alternate text description.
This site conforms to both the "Bobby" and Section 508 specifications. "Bobby" is the internationally-accepted standard for website Accessibility: see http://bobby.watchfire.com/ for more information.
Section 508 "requires that Federal agencies' electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities." See http://www.section508.gov for more information.
For a general overview of web accessibility, see the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative site.
